What I Watched: Alien Earth

Alien Earth is an 8 episode series set in the Alien universe that takes place on, you guessed it, Earth. I wasn’t sure how Alien would work as a long form series, but it works and it works well. It explores the relationship of Wayland Utani and other mega corporations fighting for scientific supremacy while blending in all of the elements of Alien that fans are expecting. It’s done in a way that is incredibly different than what we see in the movies but still provides the fan service expected. It has great characters, twists and turns, and high quality action.

We watched it as a family and it became appointment TV. There is a great balance between behind the scenes politics, science, and really good action. The characters are genuinely interesting, with Timothy Olyphant’s character being my absolute favorite. It reminds me of Fallout and the best parts of Westworld. The final episode aired last week and the entire season is available on Hulu, FX, and Disney Plus.

Verdict: Watch it if you are into Sci Fi. It’s worth it.
