Wow. It’s been a year since the boys were born and what a year it has been. At 4 PM on March 29, 2011 Sally went to her O.B. for a regularly scheduled appointment. By 7 PM our two new sons had entered the world. It was a surreal experience. Even though it was a c-section it was still amazing to watch my sons come into the world. So much has changed in the past year, it’s just amazing. We get less sleep, we have less time, we have less money, and we have less space, but it’s all worth it for our two little boys. They are simply amazing. To watch them learn, to watch them grow is a sincere privilege.
To us, the first few months were boring. The boys just sat there, ate, pooped, and slept. We took them out, but we still couldn’t go too many places with them. But around three months things started changing. They became more active. They smiled. They laughed. They responded to us. As six months approached they started to pick up objects and play with toys. They even started to notice each other and interact. They giggled and made noises. They looked at us and smiled. We could make them laugh. They rolled. By nine months they were sitting up and even starting to crawl, which was a whole new world. We gated in the living room to keep them safe. First it was just Adam. About a month or so later it was Zach. The two of them chased each other around and played together. They even had a little bit of sibling rivalry. Now we’re at a year. They are both standing up, holding onto objects, feeding themselves solid foods, and speaking a little – things like “All done”, “Mama”, “Dada”, “Baba”, and “Uh oh”. Zach has made the transition off of formula and is drinking 100% milk now. And just tonight, Adam started walking!!! Walking!!!
They boys have really developed their personalities. They are completely different and that’s a good thing. They keep us busy and the keep us on our toes, but we wouldn’t change it. We are so excited for the next year. There will be so much to do! They are moving up to the one year old room on Monday and we are visiting my Dad in Texas in April. We can’t wait for him and Schawnté to see them! What a year! Happy birthday boys!
