It’s fall and that means it’s time to start stocking up on video games for the winter! There’s no better time as most platforms have a fall sale followed by a winter sale plus some random sales in-between. I tend to buy most of my games from Steam, but occasionally seek out other digital platforms when there are sales. That is the case with my first purchases this season. All are Ubisoft games and come directly from the Ubisoft Store’s Anniversary Sale: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800, and Immortals Fenyx Rising

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was my primary purchase. It came out about a year ago and will be under active content development into 2022. I’m a big fan of the series and have enjoyed most of them, especially Origins and Odyssey. I bought the Gold Edition for 40% off ($60) so I basically got the season’s pass for free. I’ve just barely started playing it but it’s tons of fun.

Anno 1800 is a Sim-City-like game (I think) set in the 1800’s. It was 60% off so I sprung for the top package ($60) which includes 3 years of DLC. I haven’t played it yet but it looks pretty cool. I bought Immortals Fenyx Rising because Adam liked the dragons and it looks a lot like a more age-appropriate version of Assassin’s Creed. It was also 60% off so I scored the base game for a cool $24. I also threw in The Division 2 plus its expansion for $18. It was 70% off. I’d heard mixed reviews of The Division 2 but I think it was mostly related to the multiplayer aspect which isn’t my thing anyway. For $18 I’ll try it.
